Brief description
Akhmat Kadyrov was the chief mufti of the separatist Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, but defected to the Russian side and became the first president of Chechnya. He is the father of current leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who has built a cult of personality around his name. He was assassinated in May 2004.
