Brief description
The Operational Search Directorate is a subdivision of the Federal Security Service (FSB) that engages in surveillance. It answers directly to the FSB director (Soldatov and Borogan, 2010). It should not be confused with the Operations Search Directorate, which is an FSB unit within the Service to Protect the Constitutional System and Combat Terrorism.
