Centre 8 for Protecting Information and Special Communications is a subunit of the Federal Security Service, subordinate to the Scientific and Technical Service. It was previously called the Centre for Secure Communications, and before that the Main Directorate for Secure Communications at the Federal Agency for Government Communication and Information (FAPSI).
