FSB spetsnaz blockaded a group of six suspected rebels during a special operation in Karabulak. The incident formed part of a broader counterterrorism operation in the city. All of the suspects — Amirkhan Gurazhev, Tagir Tsuroyev, Bers Chemurziyev, Mikhail Tutayev, Magomet Barkinkhoyev, and Zelimkhan Tsuroyev — were accused of being members of the Islamic State and were killed in the incident.

The suspected insurgents were accused of involvement in an attack on a security service post in March 2023.
