Aleksey Goncharenko and Musa Magomedov submitted a proposal to Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada to recognise the independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI). Kadyrov called the proposal “absolutely ridiculous and absurd,” claiming that the ChRI hadn’t existed since 2007, when the Caucasus Emirate was created.
